Image 1 "Action may not always bring happiness, but there is no happiness without action."  I am a senior at Lincoln High in the Center for Public Safety. This is my first year attending Lincoln, and I'm very excited to be a part of journalism, especially as we are taking the "newspaper" to a completely new dimension. The virtual world is no longer something merely concocted up for entertainment, and we, the journalism staff at Lincoln High, are truly thrilled to be on the pulse of change. Something most people may not know about me is that I'm a complete neat freak. I'm almost obsessive about having everything in it's proper place, and I've been known to spaz out over a leftover marker smudge when a teacher wipes off the whiteboard. Another little known fact is that I worked as a lifeguard this past summer, and I've been a competitive swimmer for the past eight years. I also enjoy playing water polo, spending time with friends, dancing, and listening to music. When I'm not busy with sports practices, ballet classes, or Mr. Pascua's A.P. Government homework, I can most likely be found with my nose in some sort of young adult fiction novel. I hope to attend Stanford University and attain a bachelor's degree in communications, and later, a graduate degree in journalism. Though I'm not exactly sure what specific career I want to pursue, I've narrowed my career aspirations down to the writing field. I strongly admire and appreciate the work of writer Alice Walker. I'm inspired by both her courage in addressing controversial issues and her role as an activist for the Civil Rights movement. I was inspired to pursue journalism after attending the San Diego Association of Black Journalists' journalism workshop two years ago. I've always loved writing, and the workshop exposed me to many different opportunities and careers in journalism.
