Image 1 "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt." -Abraham Lincoln. I am a senior here at Lincoln High School. I am planning to attend college, and hopefully become an English teacher. I was first inspired and motivated to write in elementary school and have been writing ever since. My family came to the United States in 1993 seeking refuge from the civil war that broke out in my home. Due to the civil war, we were forced to leave our homes and all our belongings. We found ourselves in a condition of poverty and homelessness.  So as our journey began, we took a flight from Ethiopia and finally landed at the JFK Airport. As we walked down to the baggage claim, we saw foreign words written all over the walls.  We saw people of all colors and shapes. They all looked like non-human like creatures. Then we took a taxi with a driver that  sounded like he was speaking gibberish as he asked for our fare. We took a long time to find our new ''mansion.'' The ''mansion'' was so big that it had two rooms and a bathroom, big huh?
