oys Basketball hosted the Second Annual San Diego versus Los Angles Tournament last Saturday, Jan. 7, in the New Gym.

Lincoln Varsity played against Taft High School from Los Angeles, who had the lead at half-time. Lincoln came back late third quarter to be up by two. However, Lincoln was unable to beat Taft’s offense, ending the game 52-48.

“They were a good team, I mean they weren’t better than us, but we did our best and learned a lot from them,” said captain Tyrell Robinson.

In their next game during the regular season, the Hornets faced off against the University City Centurions. Lincoln immediately took the lead with the help of senior Steve Martin and junior Jeremiah Tuner dominating down low, which allowed the wings and guards to score. Leading the team in scoring were juniors Tyree and Tyrell Robinson, whose combined efforts put up 46 of the 61 points.  Lincoln came away with a 61-41 win.

The Hornets leave San Diego 2-0 as they head to Springfield, Missouri to play in the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions, where they will face some of the countries top teams.

“It will be a good experience to go half way across the country to play against some of top teams,” said Head Coach Bryant.

Lincoln will be back just in time for the San Diego Elite 8 Tournament at Point Loma Nazarene University on Monday, Jan. 16, where they will face a Division I school, the Eastlake Titans at 5:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Jan. 17, the Hornets will travel to play against St. Augustine at 4:30 p.m., which is located in North Park.
